Itinerary

The Itinerary Of Day Trip To Atlas Mountains & the three Valleys

During this private day trip to the Atlas Mountains and the three valleys, you will get the opportunity to visit 3 various valleys in the company of an experienced, informative, and knowledgeable driver/guide.

The Atlas Mountains are in fact three distinct ranges that run in bands across Morocco’s interior, dividing it into strips of lower-lying land. Furthest north in the Middle Atlas, while the southerly range is the Anti Atlas that attempt to keep desolate Western Sahara at bay. The central High Atlas range is the most dramatic and by far the most accessible, containing North Africa’s highest peak – the 4,167-metre Mount Toubkal – as well as countless Berber villages terraced onto precipitous ledges. From Marrakesh, it only takes around 45 minutes to drive to the High Atlas, a wonderful chance to retreat to the clear mountain air.

It is an exotic trip to the heart of Berber country. You’ll leave Marrakech at 9:15 am from your accommodation towards the Ourika, across the plain of Haouz. At 30 kilometers, discovering a village Ghmat Jemaa (pronounced Rmat ) which houses an ancient mausoleum that holds a typical Friday souk, such as the Monday is at 5 km. The market takes place in an enclosure provided for the occasion. Quantity donkeys are kept near the river.

Then you will gain the valley, with a succession of exceptional views and small villages with mud houses. Below, the river Ourika winds around a mosaic of orchards and fields. After visiting the souks we will head towards the village of Aghbalou very authentic and take the road that culminates, Then begins a side street, alternating landscapes, and green landscapes with the distant snowy winter to early spring mountains.
